Why ClearCurrent exists
Water filtration is sold on fear and bought in a hurry. Most shoppers end up choosing between a wall of near-identical boxes, each promising to remove “up to 99%” of something unspecified. ClearCurrent exists to turn that noise into a decision you can defend.
We start from the water, not the product. What is actually in a typical municipal supply, what a private well changes, which contaminants a carbon block can touch and which need reverse osmosis — then, and only then, which hardware is worth your money.
Our standards
Certification over adjectives
A filter either holds an NSF/ANSI certification for a contaminant or it does not. We lead with the standard and the claim it covers, then say what falls outside it.
Cost per gallon, not sticker price
A cheap pitcher with a 40-gallon cartridge is rarely cheap. Every review works out what a year of real use costs before it recommends anything.
Published data, clearly attributed
Where we cite performance figures from manufacturer or third-party testing, we say so. We do not present reported results as our own laboratory work.
No verdict is for sale
Rankings are never traded for placement. If commercial relationships ever apply to a page, that page says so at the top.
Corrections
Specifications change, cartridges get reformulated, and certifications lapse. If something on this site is out of date or wrong, tell us and we will fix the page rather than quietly bury it.
